A gemstone which embodies the blue hue of the sea in summer, aquamarine was used as a talisman to protect sailors in ancient times from treacherous maritime journeys and was thought to be the treasure of mermaids. It is also looked upon for tranquillity, harmony and clarity (aquamarine is approximately 0.20ct, diamond is 0.26ct).
